Hey everyone, a special friend of mine, TheBrotagonist (You may know him as the voice of Bendi), Sam, is in serious trouble and needs some help to raise some funds to move out.
His abusive father is abandoning him and the apartment they live in, leaving him with practically nothing; No money, no food, no method of transport, nothing. His father also has been using him as his tool pretty much, setting him up with high school benefits Sam shouldn’t have even been receiving, laundering the money from him and putting him well over in debt with Social Security.
There are no local jobs in his area, and he doesn’t have a driver’s licence. So one of his friends began a donation pool to help him raise money to possibly live somewhere else. Even if he does manage to make it out of his current situation, he’d still need money to help support himself until he can stand on his own.
I know it’s short notice, but I’d really like to see him pull through this. If donating isn’t your thing, Sam also said he’d consider doing commissions for donations. He specializes mostly in Pony artwork though he can draw other things, but his real forte is voice acting. If you need any voice acting work done, consider offering him a bit of money in exchange for his work. Message him over Tumblr if you’re interested!
Even if you can’t donate, spreading the word and getting the donation link out there would really help.
If you would like to donate, please click the link below. The donation is direct through Paypal.

Thank you guys so much in advanced. Even if you only read this, it raises awareness of his situation.
If you can, please reblog this and get the word out!

A few people have asked me about my inspirations, so I thought I’d share one with you!
Kawase Hasui (1883 – 1957) was a Japanese printmaker, who worked within a “new print” movement in which 20th Century artists sought to reignite the old ukiyo-e printmaking process. The result is an amazing mix between old and modern (well, modern for the early 1900s) that to me has such a magical quality.
I think in these works, you can see where the backgrounds for stuff like the Ghibli films came from. They’re so graphic and bold, but highly detailed and atmospheric. To me, that was what transfixed me when I first saw a Hasui print. For a long time I struggled and was frustrated by the fact that no matter how I painted, it didn’t look right. Something about moving from lines to colour always stymied me and I didn’t understand what it was.
Then I found these, and everything clicked. I’m not a painter. Technically, I’m not a printmaker either, but I’m much closer to that ideal than anything else. I don’t need depth and shading and ultra realism. To me, the end goal is not to make something look real. I need lines. I need colours. I need gradients and bold shadows. I don’t think in paint. I think in print. I saw Hasui’s work and I was so indescribably attracted to it that it made me understand so much about who I am as an artist.
Fantastic 20th century prints :3 wooooo!!!
